Art for the Park

Art is about connection…

– with people, with materials, and with

the stories we often overlook.

   ~ Swapna Namboodiri

‘Art for the Park’ is the name of an umbrella art-focused project that aims to connect community through sustainable and environmentally informed art expressions to local green spaces for their protection for present and future generations.

“We regard the future as a joint

 creative endeavour and art

as a  mission to take on

sociopolitical responsibility”

  ~ Friedensreich Hundertwasser

‘Art for the Park’ invites and supports local artists to be the leaders of their own ideas to meet our environmental and community-oriented purpose.

We are seeking for striking, thought-provoking public art pieces, installations or performances highlighting current big problems that invite reflection and  help us step in the right direction towards the protection and conservation of the green lungs of our city.

Turning waste into wonder!

We challenge artists to make use of only reclaimed waste, second hand, upcycled materials in their creations to help reduce reliance on brand new materials and giving ‘waste’ a second life. This would be more than an art installation – it’s a powerful statement about a possible future for our way of living, our relationship with waste and show how creativity can inspire real change.

“Art is a mirror and a map.

I’m using these less-valued

materials to narrate the story

of global issues – the climate,

environmental and waste crises.

Nothing is waste until it gets

wasted.” ~ Swapna Namboodiri
